A very special day
Today I was in a special meeting of YAMA project, to discuss about the situation in Gaza strip. This project helped and opened this blog for me.
In YAMA project we (kids from 13-about 17 years old) learn how to explain Israel to the world, and how to help others understand that we’re not as bad as people might think. We learn how to talk to others without insulting, how to use visual aids and more.
The meeting was in Tel-Aviv, which is far from my southern-home town. So I had to wake up in 6:30 AM! It was hard for me because I’m not used to wake up that early; I live next to my school.
So after I woke up and got ready, I went with my friends to wait for the main bus of the project to come. It was nice to meet them so early, because we had a very long day together…
When the bus finally showed-up, we got in quickly and we drove away. I was really excited to meet all my friends from the project, who I didn’t see for a month. The way to Tel-Aviv was very long, but I enjoyed every second because I had my friends with me.
When we’ve finally arrived, I realized that the long way was only the beginning of this interesting day. We listened to lots of lectures, which helped us and gave us the basic tools and facts to talk to teenagers around the world, and see if we can show them what’s really happening at Gaza.
I am really excited to help… It’s been my goal for a lot of time to make a change. As a little girl I couldn’t change anything, of course, but as long as I’m growing-up my dream is getting real!
Now I want to talk a little bit about the war in Gaza area. This is just really scary! I’ve been into similar thing two-years ago, in the second Lebanon war, and I know it was just horrible. I can’t explain really how it is, because those are nothing but words… But I just want to remind you- People are forced to live in fear with no-way out for the last 8 years! It shouldn’t happen.
I always keep telling myself; everything would be just fine, but how can I promise? I can’t tell for sure, and that makes me worried.
