Things I Miss While Far from Home

23 08 2009

I have been away from home, Israel, for a little over three weeks now. I’m in Chile, with family. Chile really is a beautiful place, and I’m having lots of fun and special experiences which I wouldn’t have in Israel (like a true snow storm), but there are also a lot of things I never thought I would even think of missing, but I do.

Like the vegetables. I miss very much the good Israeli tomatoes and cucumbers. The “Sheri tomatoes” especial (the tiny tomatoes, which began in Israel).
I miss Tnuva’s milk and other milk products…
I even miss a little bit waking to the very bright sun we usually have.
I miss having everything I need close to my home- piano lessons, school, supermarkets…
I miss speaking Hebrew freely without knowing it may be dangerous.
And obviously, and more than all, I miss my friends, the scouts, my little room with all the books and the pictures of skies and waves. I miss being able to call people sometimes just to check how they are doing (even though there is messenger, ICQ [which were both developed in Israel by the way], and Skype, it’s not the same). I miss walking on the street in a sunny day.
I miss the radio stations I’m used to, and the computer on which I play the music while studying. Our home where I would be with my parents and sister. The people I really miss already.

I miss so many things and so much, that I will never be able to write them all down… I miss my Israel.

Summer Vacation!

20 06 2009

F-I-N-A-L-L-Y!

Finally, after a long year, the summer vacation in Israel has begun, at least for students who study in junior high schools.

Like at any other place in the world, students here who have been working hard all year wait all year for this vacation. It is our time to relax, have fun, and a little bit of freedom. Everyone needs this, and kids in Israel are not any different.

Everybody make so many plans… Pools, sea, a first job, shopping, reading, having fun with friends, books… There are so many things I my self would like to do that I have no idea where to start.

Anyways, as you can see, the two month summer vacation in Israel is not different than how it is in any other place in the world, and kids here like having fun just like in any other place in the world too.

The vacation begins today, and ends in September 1st. I wish everyone a wonderful vacation, and that they will get to do everything they planned!

But for now, before I begin having fun, I will go back to the work we got from school. After that, I hope soon enough I will have better things to write about… 8P What I do know for sure is that I’ll have more time to write…

     Great summer everyone!

Hello everyone… שלום כולם 8]

13 05 2009

Well, I guess this is my first hello. 8]

To say the truth, I still have no idea how to work this thing. Never thought of opening my own blog, but…

I do love my country- Israel. And I do hope this will help show it’s not some third world country, and not a desert, not a place in which people suffer, and not a place which is only one big mess and war.

My Israel?

It’s home, and a home which I would trade for nothing- even if I was given the chance (and I already proved that, when I chose to come back here and not to stay in the U.S.A, even though it’s a It’s a too).
It’s a place where most of the people I love so dearly live.
It’s the place in which I can get in twenty minutes to the sea, about an hour to snow, around my area all green, and a little more than two hours desert like view.
It’s a place in which I can go on a trip, and then go to Tel Aviv if I want to be in a beautiful very advanced  city and see how technology has advanced all around.
I can study, I can have fun, I can be a patriot, I can believe or not believe in God, and I can be myself- a Jew, without fearing anyone, since I have my own country to protect me.

And in this blog I hope to get my chance to tell you everything about my Israel, from the point of view of just another teenager, just like you- wherever it is you live.

So that’s all for now, since just like any other teenager, I have homework waiting 8/ (OK, well, the ones who do their home work 8P Bet the ones who don’t have more time for fun XD).

Will write again soon 8]
